Upon the conclusion of elementary, students grade 6 thru 8th continue their education at Marshall Middle School. Once in high school, children in grades 9 thru 12th have several options: Marshall High School, Marshall Alternative High School, Eastern Calhoun Early College, Michigan Youth Challenge Academy, or parents may look elsewhere and admit their children to a high school of their choosing.
Special services include Adult/Community Education, Employability Skills Training (in partnership with local businesses), Special Education, Bilingual Education, Eastern Calhoun Early College, and A Great Start Readiness Program (preschool).

Established in Albion in 1913, Starr Commonwealth serves boys and girls, families and professionals at its Albion campus and at four other locations in Michigan and Ohio. Starr works with troubled youths, many of whom come from broken homes and/or have experienced abuse or neglect. In both residential and community-based settings, Starr’s programs serve 5,000 children and their families each year. Starr Commonwealth is an independent and non-profit organization.

The Calhoun Area Technology Center, located in Battle Creek, Michigan, is a provider of career/technical education for 13 public and private area school districts, comprised of students from rural and urban locations. Since opening in September 1970, over 29,000 students have attended the CATC. Students enroll through their local high school as juniors or seniors, in one of 19 programs, based on an individual interest and aptitude assessment, and educational/employability development plan.

The Jackson Area Career Center, located in Jackson, Michigan, provides over 1,000 students a year from 21 Jackson County high schools with the opportunity to take several of the 26 different vocational training programs available. Most of the students are juniors and seniors in high school and complete their courses in two years. However, JACC also offers adult vocational technical programs in the evening.

Albion College is a private, coeducational 4-year liberal arts college. Founded in 1835 by members of the Methodist Church, Albion has come to be recognized as one of the premier liberal arts colleges in the United States. The college offers a complete liberal arts curriculum that includes a full slate of humanities, natural science, art, and social science majors, as well as a variety of special concentrations, including education, pre-medical, pre-law, professional management, environmental science, public service, and several others. Kellogg Community College was founded in 1956 by the Battle Creek Board of Education which operated it until 1970 when voters created an area-wide college district. The College, situated on sites in Battle Creek, Albion (Eastern Academic Center), Coldwater (Grahl Center), Hastings (Fehsenfeld Center), and Ft. Custer Industrial Park (Regional Manufacturing Technology Center), offers nearly 100 pre-professional college/university transfer curricula; approximately 40 occupational associate degree programs in health, business, secretarial, technical and public science fields; and over 30 certificate programs aimed toward job preparation; and related training for apprenticeships. KCC provides customized training services designed and delivered to area businesses and institutions and a wide range of lifelong learning programs for personal enrichment. Over the past several years, hundreds of area businesses have received specialized training for thousands of employees and dozens of small businesses and individuals through the College’s customized training programs. The College was fully reaccredited by the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools during the spring semester of 2002. During the spring 2002 semester KCC had 91 administrative personnel, 94 full time faculty members, 78 support staff, 21 maintenance persons, 100 part-time employees, and 200 part-time faculty. There were also 80 students employed.
